A huge part of choosing new glasses is making sure that the frames suit the shape of your face. No matter whether you choose designer glasses or really cheap specs, if you don’t get the frame shape right – your glasses won’t look as great as you’d like.

To help you pick out the perfect pair, here are the 4 main face shapes and the frames which flatter them perfectly:

  1. Round. If you have a round face, the frames to choose are geometric or angular frames, as these will balance out the roundness of your cheeks and chin. If you go for round or oval frames, they will only emphasise the roundness of these features.
  2. Oval. If you have a softly rounded, oval face, you are very lucky as you can wear most frame shapes. Try out bolder styles and modern designer glasses frames – just experiment with your look.
  3. Square. If you have a square-shaped face, the best frames to go for are oval frames. These will soften your jawline and the angles of your face, whereas square or rectangular frames will only emphasise these features.
  4. Rectangular. Those with rectangular-shaped faces, with deep foreheads and high cheekbones, will look great in wide frames, especially those in bright all-over colours with a striking top line. Small frames should be avoided, as should square shaped frames.

Once you have a frame shape that flatters and suits your face shape, all you need to do is choose a style that you like – it’s as simple as that!
