Rimless glasses haven’t always had a very good reputation, with many people associating them with older people as well as certain Swedish football managers. They just aren’t seen as a young person’s style, nor have they been particularly fashionable in recent years.
A new trend
However, in many peoples’ eyes, rimless frames are starting to experience something of resurgence in popularity. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that they are a great example of minimalism, a look which many people love in everything from their clothing to their home décor. They are also quite futuristic in appearance, so they work well alongside fashion trends such as the craze for Perspex accessories on the catwalks and continuing popularity of the ‘geek chic’ look.
Style aside – what benefits do rimless frames offer?
Of course, there’s more to choosing a pair of men’s or women’s glasses than just the style of the frame. Rimless glasses actually offer a number of other benefits to glasses wearers, such as:
Offering an unobstructed view in your peripheral vision – the lack of rims can be particularly useful when driving.
Being very lightweight – as they aren’t weighed down by metal rims.
Showing off your eyes – from an aesthetic point of view, a lack of rims means more of your eyes can be seen.
However, not everyone can wear rimless frames. If your eyesight is very poor, you might find that getting rimless frames in your prescription is either very expensive or not practically possible.
